How We Collect Consent
Trustmaker collects SMS consent verbally during a phone consultation. Before any text messages are sent, our agent reads the following disclosure and waits for an explicit verbal "yes" from the client:
"Before we wrap up, I want to let you know that as a follow-up to our conversation today, I may send you a text message to confirm your appointment, share next steps, or send you information about your estate plan. Standard message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Do I have your permission to text you at the number you're calling from?"
No SMS messages are sent unless the client provides an explicit verbal "yes" in response to this disclosure. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Confirmation Message
Immediately following verbal consent, the client receives a confirmation SMS:
"Hi, this is Rob at Trustmaker. As we discussed, I'll follow up by text with your estate planning next steps. Reply STOP anytime to unsubscribe. Std msg & data rates may apply."
How Consent Is Recorded
- Consent is logged in our CRM (Zoho) against the client's contact record.
- The log includes: date and time of consent, phone number consented, and a notation confirming verbal opt-in was received.
- Records are retained indefinitely and available for audit upon request.
Types of Messages Sent
All messages are transactional in nature and directly related to the client's estate planning engagement:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders
- Document status updates
- Follow-up next steps after a consultation
- Responses to client inquiries
We do not send unsolicited marketing messages to this list.
Sample Message
"Hi [First Name], this is Rob at Trustmaker. Your estate plan documents are ready for review. Call or reply here with any questions. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. 877-257-6620"
How to Opt Out
Clients may opt out of SMS communications at any time by:
- Replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message.
- Calling us at (877) 257-6620 and requesting removal.
Opt-out requests are honored immediately — within one message — and logged in our CRM. Once opted out, no further SMS messages will be sent unless the client re-consents.
